Squall is a Balamb Garden student who has great skill with a gunblade. Intraverted but not really shy, he's a loner who, because of his blurry past, often doesn't understand the generousity of others and can't become close to his friends. He and Seifer Almasy are the only Gunblade users at Balamb, because the weapon takes many years to master and is difficult to use well.
